Message from our President: Ella Schreiber
Members of the Executive Board see ourselves similar to a group of ducks calmly crossing a pond while below the water invisible to the eye, our feet are paddling at great speed. We are making quantum leaps with both a new and improved web site and competition software. These upgrades will be communicated and a good starting point will be to read Sheldon Wecker’s article ion page 5 in this issue of the Chronicle.
Thank you to Sheldon Wecker for researching new competition software for ACCC. Sheldon’s committee members included Cindy Marple and Jim Warthman who worked together with all of the technical issues and considerations to make this leap forward. I encourage you to read his article. The registration and digital entry for the round-up plus deadline dates will be different Please be sure to read Sheldon’s his article…. I am happy to say, ACCC is moving into current technology with both new salon software and a new web site which will be a great improvement to your experience as well as for those on the working side of the new software. These changes have been well researched and we feel confident this will bring ACCC up to current technology standards. We remain forward looking to improve our means of communication and ways to meet the challenges imposed by the virus. We appreciate your support and value your membership we.
A big thank you for supporting ACCC during this pandemic…We’ve tried our best to continue our bi-annual roundups virtually. While the pandemic has been challenging for everyone, with all of the isolation and restrictions imposed by the virus. This, however has forced us to look to technology to stay in touch. We have both the will and resilience to stay in touch – even if it is virtually.
Our fall 2021 round-up will be virtual and feature Kerrick James as our guest speaker. Please refer to Isabel Guerra Clark’s article for more information.
We are already working hard on both the Spring and Fall 2022 round-ups…We are hopeful for a “real-live” roundup for the spring of 2022. Our hosting club will be Sun City Grand. Details will be shared as events unfold. In any case, we WILL have a roundup in the spring of 2022 either virtually or “real live” face to face as we had in the past. As a result of Kathryn Danney’s survey to our members many of the responses indicated interest in Black and White photography… Isabel Guerra Clark, our Program Chair is hard at work for an outstanding speaker for black and white photography for the spring 2022 roundup.
It has been an honor for me to serve as President of ACCC, and, will continue in the roll for 2022. None of the things I have described above happen by themselves. Change and moving the club forward only happen with the hard work of all members of the Executive Committee, Club Representatives and members. As always, we welcome members who want to be involved… as they say, it takes a town of volunteers to make things happen. My start with ACCC was volunteering to apply paper ID bands to prints shown at the round-up… the next step was Print Co-Chair … you will never be alone and we have many nice and very helpful members. If you have an interest in getting more involved with the organization please feel free to contact me or your club’s Rep. at any time.
At our last virtual round up we recognized and memorialized those members who passed during the previous year. We received very positive feedback and decided to include that recognition of members passing as a regular part of both our Chronicle and roundups. We would like to ask for your help in notifying us of any member’s passing so that we can continue this recognition as a regular part of our roundups. We will continue to make the recognition of member passing a regular part of our procedures and the names will appear in both the Chronicle and at our round-ups whether virtual or in person.
